Pain relief is important because pain interferes with both function and the ability to feel pleasure. But pain relief really has little to do with health. A shot of morphine can take your pain away, but it does not make you any healthier.
Pain is simply a signal that tells us something deeper in our body is either not healthy or not happy. We want to heal that deeper something.
